When seventeen-year-old Mira Johns is selected by the academy ahead of six hundred other candidates as the first student ambassador ever to travel from the planet Nreim to Earth—despite coming dead last in every competition—Mira decides it must be because she’s the least likely to attract the Earth high school’s primitive and forbidden males.

Mira is finding her groove on Earth with neo-humans and her genetically compromised boyfriend after the agency grants permission for her to stay permanently (as long as she agrees to never bring him home).
Things seems to be going well, until a spate of sudden deaths forces Mira to take drastic action to protect herself and several half-breed children from genetic extremists determined to eliminate anyone they feel is a threat to the objective of perfect Nreim DNA.
With the help of her friends on both Earth and Nreim, Mira goes up against the popular group at school to plan a major event that is intended to draw out the enemy—but at the same time puts everyone she loves in danger.
Can Mira get past her insecurities and summon the strength to fight a powerful enemy that hates her just for falling in love?
